Protective Styling

Recently I've done this style of a sew-in initially for my trip out of town as a summer style for a few days that I was going to be away, now I've decided to keep it to grow my hair longer. I've been recently getting comments and questions about this style and would like to start reviewing other hair, wigs, and styles for you all as protective styling. I LOVE this curly hair (purchased with my own money) its a kinky curly texture that is the same curl pattern as my real hair! Its little bit of maintenance but if you twist up at night and put under satin bonnet...and in the morning refresh curls with water with conditioner/ or leave in you should be good. There are pros and cons of this hair but overall I love! I wont be doing a sew in again anytime soon, just because I feel U part wigs are way better matenience wise and better protection of your hair. it also give you a lot of option to wear your hair or just pop on the U part if you use clips for your wig. Please feel free to comment and ask questions! :)

Missed You Guys!

Sorry I haven't been posting often on here often. To those of you who have joined my site and those of you who just browse I really appreciate it! I have other outlets where I post more which some of you know. Add me here also!

Natural Hair Haul!

Ok so here are my fave products:

From Let to Right:

Hollywood Beauty Smoothing hair creame'; enriched with Keratin &Argan Oil from Morocco.
This Stuff's crack! lol Im addicted just finished my bottle so I have to get more. The smoothing property is phenomenal on straight as well as curly hair. Doesn't leave hair hard or flaky and has great hold for ponytails and edges. Also Enriched with some really great goodies and the Smell is Awesome(fruit extract)!!!

Aveda's Be Curly Curl Enhancer; enriched with wheat protein and Aloe. Combats frizz  and enhances curl, can be used on both wet and dry hair. Wheat protein in the product expands hair when wet and retracts when dry to enhance curl.

Aveda's Be Curly Style Prep; enriched with wheat protein. Revive's hair like no other!! All day frizz control, moisturization and curl definition. Style prep on damp hair..only about a dime size is needed or more if your hair is really long or thick. Reactivates curls along with moisture from water. Try it, I guarantee it won't let you down!!!

Herbal Essence Hello Hydration; ahhh It speaks for it's self, enfaced with Hawaiian Coconut & Orchid.
Heard raves all over about this stuff and I have to say I feel in love my first use. Great as a leave in or a great all around conditioner! Leaves hair soft and very moisturized. I use this for my Tightly Curly Method, so it stays in when my hair is curly 4-5 days and is rinsed out on wash days and repeated if I want the same style (curly) My hair becomes very manageable one wash days and easy to detangle.
Great smell...lasts for a long time!

Products I will be trying out/picking up:

  • Ausie Moist
  • Aloe Vera Juice as seen on Heyfranhey.com

Hair Update!!!

So my last post was about my Results of the Tightly Curly Method on my hair. I absolutely loved it. Can I say that I got a lot of wear out of it..lasted me about 4 days. To me with more wear It gave me bigger hair so it just got better with time. It actually could have gone longer, I just wanted to experiment with a high bun! Here's what I did:

Got into the shower, let hot water run through my hair while massaging the scalp to kind of lift the residue. Applied Vo5's strawberry's and cream all over instead of using shampoo. Rinsed with cold water.
Next I applied Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration to soaking wet hair, then section the hair off. Finger combed the conditioner through and paddle brushed sectioned hair a little to break the my natural curls up. (Did this all over the head)..and Viola' let completely dry before you continue to do anything with it! ex. style..put in bonnet.

Also I had two new products that save me from flattened hair because of sleeping on it. (wild sleeper)
Aveda's Be Culry Curl enhancer and Aveda's Be Curly Style Prep, they can Revive any part of the hair that the curl becomes loose on or completely flat. Used this stuff constantly..my have out of the two for now has to be the style prep!

Ok so for reviving my curl..I just wet my hands, tilted my hair over and scrunched the pieces that needed it, then added the style prep or mix of the two products together in the same scrunching motion. All fixed in two seconds!

Tightly Curly Method...my Results!

Here is my results using the Tightly Curly concept with flexi Rods. Using this Method the results were still the same as the outcome would have been without the Rods. My hair is soft, manageable, and less frizzy! Looove Ittt! :) My next attempt will be actually using my natural curl pattern lol

Tightly Curly Attempt!!!

So a few days ago I attempted to try the Tightly Curly Method....In a nutshell...I failed the process :/. Ive been seeing this method used on the internet and blogs A Lot, so I decided to give it a try! I started by pre-pooing my hair, and since I had already clarified my hair a few days back I decided to skip that step. I rinsed my pre-poo with water that was hot enough for me to take. After my hair was soaking wet, I added my conditioner(VO5 strawberries and cream moisture milks) ..lots of it, as stated in the method. Sectioned the hair, smoothed in small section, and once my natural curls started to fall and clump together on their own..I fingered twirled. It became a Little time consuming so I got lazy and just added flexi Rods to medium sized portions of my hair. I sat under the dryer for abt 30 mins. and air dried the rest of the way. I love the outcome and how my hair feels, plus how moisturized it still is after three days! Caution when using this method as to the Conditioners (Combing Conditioners) you leave in...some are not good for you! I used the VO5, but when using the ingredients dictionary on Tightlycurly.com I found one ingredient that may not but good to leave in and was under investigation, so that threw up a red flag. I still think its a great conditioner..but I will not use it as a leave in anymore. Only when shampooing and co- washing. The site has recommended conditioners to use, so my next attempt would most likely be Aveeno Nourish and shine or Ausie Moist. Please make sure you do your research when trying this Method!

Hair Update! GOC

My GOC or grow out challenge is becoming a very hard challenge :/. I've recently have been shooting alot for a magazine and doing shoots for print ads, so I had a lot of  wear and tear on my hair from straightening, products, and additional styling they've done. So I decided to put in a weave! I've had it in a week and a half before Christmas. It looked good, most people thought it was my hair. Today I got bored with it and took it out so to my surprise I did see some growth...way more than I expected in less than a month! But the con to this story is the shedding I experienced..I mean it looks Normal. Overall I loved the look I had, and did see growth. Also I think a properly installed weave and moisturized hair underneath is a great Protective style or Transitioning style.

Fitness Update! Week 3

Daily Routine:
Consist of 5 min warm-up/ intense Cardio.  Basically High knees, Jumping Jacks, Mountain Climbers...anything that with get your heart pumping.

Abs: Crunches, Sit-ups, Standing Obliques, Oblique Crunches. (abt. 3 sets of 10-15 each. of 40 of each)

Glutes: Donkey Kicks, Fire Hydrants, Super-man, Squats, Bicycle crunchs. (abt. 4 sets of 15-20 of each)
Keep in mind squeezing and releasing the glutes throughout the entire move, contracting your abdominal muscles.

For More a Effective Glute workout I use the pre-exhaust method. Do as many of one or more glute exercises that really engages those muscles in the butt til you experience "burn out"/ or until  you really feel the burn! Then when those Muscles are really engaged start an immediate exercise that engages more than one part of the body.
